Jack Bell Smith

February 18, 1928 ~ January 13, 2018 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Jack B. Smith, 89, of Morristown passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Lakeway Regional Hospital.  He was born and raised in the Oven Creek Community of Greene County. He was an active and faithful member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.  He served as Master Sergeant First Class in the U. S. Army. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Smith; brothers, Edward, Denver, and Billy Frank Smith; sister, Ida Lou Taylor; mother and father-in-law, Lester and Reba Myers and sister-in-law, Louise Smelcer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Myers Smith; son, David and Teresa Smith; daughter, Sandy and Gary Gilbert; Special grandchildren that he loved dearly, Megan Gilbert, Bradley and Danielle Gilbert, Tyler and Jennifer Gilbert; great-granddaughters, Emma and Abby Gilbert; sister-in-law, Christine Smith; cousin, Robert Smith, as well as several nieces, nephews, and his Church family.  Special thanks to caregivers Robyn Cox and Priscilla Johnson, special friend, Brenda Saylor, and the staff and doctors at Lakeway Regional Hospital ICU.

Funeral Services will be 7:00 PM, Tuesday January 16, 2018 at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church with the Reverends Jack Jenkins and Roy Dalton. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the funeral.

Interment will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2018 in the Hamblen Memory Gardens.
