Robert “Joe” Smoot, 74, a resident of Morristown passed away Friday, February 23, 2018.
He was born in Maryland and grew up in Cookeville, TN and attended Tech Training High School. He moved to Morristown and worked at Plumley Rubber Co for over 20 years, he then retired from Mahle. Most recently, he helped at the Cooper airfield.
Joe was always busy with his many hobbies. For many years he showed racking horses, played competitive pool and flew ultralight aircrafts. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family. He was an avid UT football fan.
He was adored and loved by his family and was a loving husband, father and “Grand-daddy Joe” to his two beloved granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William Ernest Smoot and Dixie Seals Smoot; brother, William Ernest Smoot Jr.; Son-in-Law, Michael Dean Salisbury.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Jennifer Lynn Campbell Smoot, daughter, Gina Smoot Salisbury, granddaughters Anna & Jessie Salisbury, nephew, Robert Smoot; niece, Cindy Smoot Myers and beloved aunt Betty McClain Frogg.
A special thanks to his cousin Martha Hatfield and family, Major Michelle Jones, Rev Cynthia Thompson and all of the officers and friends that have shown their support to his family.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral home in Morristown with receiving of friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. A private interment will be at the Cookeville Cemetery in Cookeville, TN at a later date.
