Betty Crum Obituary

Betty Lou Crum, 77, of Talbott, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly in the comfort of her own home on April 23, 2024.  Many knew her from her days working at BASF in the textile industry for 30 plus years or at Walmart Pharmacy as their cashier for many years.  She then retired to be a full-time Mamaw, which was the job she loved the most.  Many knew her because of her incredible cooking skills; however, the titles that Betty held nearest and dearest to her heart were being a child of God, Mom, and Mamaw.  All that knew Betty, knew without question, that she loved Jesus Christ, her Savior, and her family.  She was a light to all who knew her.  She taught how to lead in love and grace and was always a pillar of strength for her family.  She went above and beyond for anyone that needed her.  Life with Betty was a mixture of gospel hymns, home cooked meals, delicious desserts, creative “fix its”, and sweet tea.  She filled our lives with unconditional love, laughter, prayer, and God’s word.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ida Leola Williams; brothers, Carroll, John, and Bill Williams; and sister, Ruby Case.

She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Jones, Susan Harris, and Amy Koenig; stepson, Russell Crum; grandchildren, Rachael Chastain, Michael (Allie) Harris, Alex Koenig, Olivia Koenig, Sarah Jones, Kelli Setsor, Robert Crum and Jaxon Crum; great-grandchildren, Bennett Chastain, Hudson Trammell, and Korbyn Harris; brothers, George and Joe Williams; sisters, Dorothy Martin and Rita Williams; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; lifelong best friend, Linda Lawson, and many other close friends and church family members.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, April 29, 2024, at Community Missionary Baptist Church (1227 Carroll Road, Morristown, TN 37813).  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Reverend Tom Wells officiating.  Graveside services are planned for 3:00 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Hamblen Memory Gardens.  Friends and family will meet at the cemetery.

All funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Allen Funeral Home.  All flowers and donations may be directed to the funeral home.
