Billy Bruce Johns, 87, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 23, 2018 at his home in Whitesburg. He was saved at a young age at War Creek Missionary Baptist Church and attended Cool Branch Missionary Baptist Church until he was unable to attend. He worked as a tool and die sample maker in Dayton, OH, and moved back home to Tennessee where he retired from Meco Corporation in Greeneville.
He was a kind, loving and honorable person who loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Martha Johns; brothers, Gaston and Wilkie Johns; sister, Opal Lee; and stepmother, Mary Johns.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Johns; daughters, Lisa Johns; Teresa (Mark) Ferrell; grandson, Clinton Taylor Ferrelll; 2 great-grandchildren, Chloe Ferrell and Skyla Ferrell; brothers, Duane (Christine), Vernon(Lois), Ellis (Wanda), Henry (Robin) Johns; sisters, Laura Lowe and Kathy Ramsey; as well as several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System and Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the service at 6:00 with Reverends Dannie Bell and Tommy Seals officiating. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 in Courtney Cemetery.
