Cecil Mae (Fox) Bowlin

Cecil Mae Bowlin, 86, of Morristown, TN, passed away peacefully and was called home to the Lord on May 24, 2019 at UT Medical Center with family and friends visiting with her throughout her final days at her passing.

Cecil was born on August 29, 1932 in Cocke County, TN. She married Hobert June Bowlin on January 19, 1952 and was married to him 41years where they were blessed with four children.  After June’s passing, she became an independent woman, always making biscuits and gravy for breakfast at the start of each day.  She enjoyed playing the piano, gospel music, and spending time with her family.  She always presented herself with dignity and grace.  She told everyone, even strangers she had just met, “I love you”, reminding them of Jesus’ gift to all.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert “June” Bowlin, in 1994; her parents, Billy WM & Verna “Vernie” Fox; brothers, Roy and Frank; and sister Pauline.

Cecil was the matriarch of a family consisting of 5 living generations.  She is survived by her children Rita (Randy) Holdway, Steve (Lisa) Bowlin, Lisa (Eddie) Bradley and Nana (Johnny) Owens; her grandchildren, Shauna, Natasha, Chrystal, Eddie Jr., Ashley, Heather, Josh, Carey, Isabella; her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Cayden, Haylee, Jayde, Ashton, Payton, Annlee, Greyson, Mayson, Rylan, Shiloh; great-great grandchild, Oliver and special friend, Gypsy.

The family would like to thank all nurses and doctors that cared for her at UT Medical Center.

Celebration of Cecil’s life and funeral service will be Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Interment will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 29, 2019.  The procession will begin at Allen Funeral Home and end at Courtney Cemetery in Hawkins County.
