God called Edward Eugene Fox, 81, to his heavenly home on Monday, September 23, 2019, from hospice care at James H. Quillen VA Community Living Center in Johnson City, TN. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Ed served his country in the United States Army National Guard Armored Division. After retiring from Morrison Printing Company, Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, working on his music and traveling.
Ed was 1 of 11 children born to the late Robert and Alice Amos Fox. He was preceded in death by brothers; Bill, Boyd, and Tom Fox; sisters, Lula Beatrice Fox, Elsie (Glenn)Odom, Dorothy (John) Hazelwood, Selma Purgason, and Wanda (Edgar) Sutton; mother-in-law, Lula Cameron Carter; father-in-law, Taylor Smallman; nephews, Jeff Odom and Tom Livesay; niece, Lisa Hazelwood; brothers-in-law, John “Bud” Walker, Calvin Livesay and Buddy Smallman.
Ed is survived by his wife, Penny Smallman Fox; daughter, Wendi Alice Fox (Jason) Hrabak, and granddaughter, Scarlett Penelope Hrabak, all of Johnson City. Also surviving Ed, sisters, Mary Walker of Whitesburg, TN and Peggy (Duke) Groff of Anderson, IN. Other survivors include nephews; John (Kim) Fox, Bodey (Terri) Fox, Stacey Fox, Eddie (Erin) Sutton, Daryl Groff and Patrick Livesay; nieces, Tracy Horton, Judy (Greg) McGee, Amy (Mike) Thomas, Cindy Walker, Kelly Walker, Pamela (Mark) Western,
Kathy (Travis) McGill, Beth Odom, Joyce (Larry) Lamb, Jayne (Kevin) DuBose, Allison Fox, Cheryl (Darrell) Stephens, Candace Jones, Jamie Wyatt and Becky Livesay; sisters-in-law, Gypsy, Carol and Sue Fox, Deanna Smallman and Jean Livesay; brothers-in-law, Chester Purgason and Lewis Wyatt. He was blessed with many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 28, 2019, 5:00-8:00 pm at Fairfield Baptist Church, where Ed served as Music Director for many years. A Celebration Service will be on Sunday, September 29, 2019, 2:00 pm at the church with Pastors Scott Helton, Tim Jones and Hartsell McCurry officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Hamblen Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Box 4000 (135) Mountain Home, TN 37684, where Ed received superior, compassionate, and loving care in his final months, or to Fairfield Baptist Church, 4480 Old Kentucky Road; Morristown, TN 37814, whose heartfelt support with their prayers and visits exemplified the love of Christ these past months and throughout Ed’s life.
