Esther Marie (Johnson) Stallard

Esther Marie Johnson Stallard, born July 7, 1937, near Quinton, OK, passed away at her home early Monday, April 23, 2018.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend/Dr. J. D. Stallard; parents, Emzy M. Johnson and Reverend Etherl E. Manning Johnson; grandparents, William Jasper and Jesse Kate Marchbanks Manning and Mary Jane “Molly” Parker Johnson; sisters Vera Johnson Glenn, Tennie Ruth Johnson Tevis and Jessie Ellen Johnson.

Esther is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Donald Blair of Bean Station; daughter, Sonja Fawn White of Knoxville; grandsons, Jason and Aaron White, of the home; sister, Virginia Johnson Monks of Quinton, OK; brother, Reverend M. David Johnson of Albany OR; several nieces and nephews.                                                          

Esther grew up in Quinton, OK, graduated from Apostolic College High School, Tulsa, OK; earned a BS in Business and Education from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK; Th.B and Th.M (Theology) from Pentecostal Bible Institute; Tupelo, MS and graduate work in counseling at University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS.  She taught 6thgrade in Pryor, OK, was an instructor at Pentecostal Bible Institute and Gateway College of Evangelism and was Principal of Christian Education Center.

Ester was a pastor’s wife for 56 years.  She especially loved working in Sunday School and ladies’ work, and she was a gracious hostess and an exquisite seamstress and tailor.

Esther was a member of Christian Evangelism Center, Morristown, TN which was founded by her husband.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Sparks of Knoxville Apostolic Church officiating.  Esther was laid to rest beside her husband in Bethesda Cemetery.
