Freeda Turnmire Davidson, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Heritage Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She loved planting and harvesting a garden, spending time on the family farms, working hard, and she was her happiest when spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was one of the most determined and resilient women ever born in Thorn Hill, Tennessee, and so very proud of her culture and heritage.
She was a woman of strong Christian Faith and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church for more than 65 years. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, and grandmother, totally devoted to her family. Freeda worked at Shelby Williams Furniture for 29 years until her retirement from the company in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Davidson; parents, Lewis and Margaret Elizabeth (Maggie) Turnmire, brother, Bruce Turnmire; special sister-in-law, Alys Harris Turnmire; and son-in-law, Ronald Joe Hartman.
Mrs. Davidson is survived by one brother, Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Dana (Jean) Tunmire, Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by her four children: daughter, Judy Hartman, Riverview, FL; daughter, Shirley Byrd Rose, Kingsport; son, George (Eddie) Charlotte) Davidson; and daughter, Barbara (B. J.) (Gary) Lowe, Russellville.
Surviving grandchildren are: Janet Hartman (George Dickie) Morehouse; Pam Hartman (Doug) Padgett, Riverview, FL; Rhonda Hartman (Troy) Hamrick, Wimauma, FL; Daymon (Janet) Byrd, Kingsport; Todd (Tammy) Davidson, Morristown; Tina Davidson Shepard, Russellville; Buddy (Lisa) Davidson, Bulls Gap; Caroline Lowe (Ryan) Miklosovic, Columbia, MD; Emily Lowe (Rickey) Sexton, Russellville; and U. S. Army CPT Daniel (Arika) Lowe, Richmond Hill, GA.
Surviving great-grandchildren are: Lindsay Morehouse (Ricky) Crisp, Christian (Lindsey) Padgett, Ansley Padgett (Chase) Cisale, Jesse (Lindsey) Hamrick, and Callie Hamrick, Riverview & Wimauma, FL; Grayson Byrd, Kingsport; Courtney Miller (Kyle) Shute, Newport; Brittany Miller (Levi) Beckelhimer, and Zachary Davidson and financee, Morgan Hall, Morristown; Mason Shepard, Russellville; Dawson and Carter Miklosovic, Columbia, MD; Logan Lowe, Richmond Hill, GA, and Westyn Sexton, Russellville.
Surviving Great-great grandchildren: Demi Baggatta, Bulls Gap; Wyatt Crisp, Wimauma, FL; Rylan Shute, Newport, TN; Ilaria Beckelhimer, Morristown, TN; Nash Cisale, and Baby Finn Padgett, due 06/11/2019, Riverview, FL.
She is also survived by special nieces, Karen Turnmire (Danny) Trent, Knoxville; Mary Tunmire (Jeff) Trotman; Carol Tunmire (James) Saville; and nephew, Danny (Amy) Tunmire, Birmingham, AL, five great-nieces and five great-nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Nursing Home and Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice for the dedicated and loving care they gave their Mother and Grandmother.
The receiving of friends and visitation with family will begin at 12noon to 2pm on Friday, December 21, 2018, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home, with the Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted by Pastor Gene Nelson immediately following the Celebration of Life Service in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Hamblen County Senior Citizens Home Assistance (SCHAS), 1600 East Andrew Johnson Hwy., Suite 7, Morristown, TN 37814, and/or The Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800, in honor of Freeda Davidson.
