Leonard “Doc” Murphy, 88, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at his home in Russellville, after a long illness. He served in the U.S. Army 1953-1955 and was a lifelong farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents Riley and Mary Murphy; brothers, Roy and Ross Murphy; sisters, Louise Burgin, Helen Banner, and Betty Murphy.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Imogene; sons, Allen (Eva) and Eddie Murphy; daughters Rhonda Murphy and Sharon Wilson; grandchildren, Chris (Lauren) Hurst, Nathan (Keri) Bales and Chawntona Wilson, Heather Murphy, and Joshua (Monique) Murphy; great grandchildren, Blake Murphy, Nathan Bales Jr., Hunter and Hannah Hurst; step granddaughter, Sheila Sisk; sister, Lorene Reynolds; brother George Murphy; sister-in-law, Essie Murphy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Eric Delay and Rebecca Wilson, as well as their staff, for going the extra mile, and the Amedisys Home Health Care Workers, who participated in his care. They would also like to thank their church family, neighbors, and friends, who have kept them in their thoughts and prayers and helped in so many ways.
Graveside services will be 12 PM, Sunday, January 12, 2020 in Hamblen Memory Gardens, with Pastor Harley Roth officiating
