Welcome to the memorial page for

Linda Jean Whittington

February 3, 1960 ~ January 5, 2018 (age 57) 57 Years Old

Linda J. Whittington "Pinky", 57, of Morristown,  passed away Friday,  January 5, 2018 after a lingering illness.  She was of the Baptist faith.  Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie L. and Reba Bible Whittington; sisters, Lisa Carol Evans and infant sister, Charlotte Suzanne Whittington.

Linda was a gentle spirit who lived life to the fullest and knew that every day was a blessing. A strong-willed woman with an unbelievable work ethic and faith that could move a mountain; being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer was like a speed bump on her road of life. She did not give up and was determined to use that experience as a tool to help others.  She was a dietician by trade and held positions in long term healthcare facilities in and around the Asheville, NC area.  After moving back to East Tennessee, she worked with several home health and hospice agencies but found her niche with Friends of Hospice Serenity House where she not only cared for terminally ill patients, but their families as well; ensuring all who entered knew they were welcome and loved.  Her knowledge, wonderful sense of humor, and compassion helped form lasting friendships she cherished dearly.

She is survived by her sisters, Mildred Whittington "Mert", Charlene (Don) Allen; half sisters, Brenda (Dean) Miller and Nancy Thompson of North Wilkesboro, NC.; nieces and nephews that thought she hung the moon, Robert Charles Cobb, Becky (Josh) Hayes; Heather (Dylan) Stratton, Andrew Allen and Paula Whittington (A. J. Hubbard); her precious four legged baby Charlee; several cousins and great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Sandy Johnson, Sherry Lupien, Bart Turley, Stephanie Hammill, Nancy Krahenbill, Rhonda Wallace, and Debbi Rios.

Her family would like to thank all the staff at Amedisys Hospice, Howard and Linda Shipley who provided meals for our family and their extended family at Allen Funeral Home.  Your care, kindness and prayers have helped guide us through this difficult time.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 Tuesday, January 9 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the funeral service at 7:00 with Reverend Dannie Bell officiating.  Flowers are welcome but donations may also be made in her memory to Friends of Hospice, Serenity House; 1052 Kennedy Circle; Morristown, Tn.  37813.

Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
