Mary Wilson Obituary

Jean Wilson, 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 2, 2019 due to complications from a brief illness. Jean was born in Miami, Florida and grew up in Carmel, Indiana. She married Donald Wilson in 1966 and they lived in eight states before retiring to Morristown 15 years ago. Jean had a beautiful voice and was a member of many school, community and church choirs throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend who touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

Jean’s faith was important to her throughout her lifetime. She helped start Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jasper, Indiana in 1988 by calling people in town inviting them to the first service. Most recently, Jean was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she started up the prayer group, was the Treasurer for several years and served on several committees.

Jean was a talented crafter, but her great love was quilting. She was an avid, award-winning quilter for over 30 years and loved creating and gifting hundreds of quilts to her family and friends. Jean was also an active member and past president of Thread & Thimble Quilt Guild (formerly known as the Rose Center Quilt Guild).

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Becky Slipher. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Wilson and their dog, Coco; two daughters, Kris (Jim) Price and Niki (Dave) Anderson-Gramelspacher; grandchildren, Josh Mehringer, James Price, Ian Price, Eli Anderson, KayLee Anderson, Isaac Anderson and Jace Gramelspacher; sister, Carol (Mick) Slipher Jackson; brother, Dave Slipher; brother-in-law, Rick (Elaine) Wilson; and eight nieces and six nephews.

A Celebration of Life service officiated by Pastor Mike Cutshaw will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 8. Receiving of friends will be from 1-2pm with the service following at 2pm. If you plan to attend and have a quilt made by Jean, please bring it with you. These quilts will be used to decoratethe sanctuary and also to be viewed and enjoyed by all. In lieu of flowers, Jean would like donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; Memorial Processing; St. Jude Childrens Hospital; 501 St Jude Pl.; Memphis, TN. 38105-9959 or the Shriners.
