Mary Louise Peters Starnes, 90, passed away at her home in Morristown, early Friday morning, September 20, 2019, surrounded by her family. Mary was born at home in Wood, VA on December 10, 1928, to the late Christopher C. and Nina G. Peters. She grew up on the family farm that dated back three generations to the Civil War. She graduated as Valedictorian from Dungannon High School and attended Tusculum College for two years with a concentration in business. She moved to Morristown in 1963 and worked for Berkline for 32 years, until her retirement. She was an active member of Bridger’s United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles Cline Peters of Wilmington, NC.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Starnes; son, Dwight (Karen) Starnes; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2019, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow the visitation with Reverend Mike Cutshaw officiating. Interment will be 11 AM, Wednesday, September 25, 2019, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
