Ralph Greene Byrd

Ralph Greene Byrd, age 89, of Whitesburg passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at his home.  He was a member of Catherine Nenney Baptist Church.  

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Sue Pearson Byrd; parents, James and Litha Byrd; sisters, Dollie & Minnie Byrd, Ella Trent, and Bonnie Kuykendall; brothers, Willie, Henry, Freeman, Carl and Mack Byrd.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Ginger R. Byrd and her fiancé, Kevin Crigger, whom he loved like a son; devoted and special niece, Barbara Wolfe; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Ralph started his career as a milk salesman before going to work for the Coca-Cola Company, where he retired after 27 years.  He enjoyed reading his Bible, listening to gospel music, visiting and talking with friends and family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their care and support. 

The funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Monday, December 3, 2018 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home with the Reverend Odell Davidson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
