Ray Allen Hoover, 86, of Morristown passed away peacefully at home September 28, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daphna Hoover; son, Jeffery Hoover; parents, Reverend Marshall and Ethel Hoover; brothers, Emory, Vincent, Glenn and Ralph Hoover; and a sister, Mary Lillian.
Ray served in the United States Air Force; worked for American Enka and retired from Triangle Pacific. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather and friend who lived his life to serve the Lord. He was an Elder of Restoration Church. He loved children and was known by “Papaw” to all who knew him. He loved sports, spending time with his family, working in his yard and helping others.
He is survived by his children Vicky (George “Bubble”) Davis, Toney (Phyllis) Hoover and Cindy (Steve) Haynes; grandchildren, Branda (Keith) Deering, Micah (Amanda) Davis; Candace Minor , Chad and Tonya Hoover and great-grandchildren, Siarha Jinks, Seth and Isaiah Davis, Shane Michael, Pressley Asbury, Macee and Chloe Hoover; brother, Lynn Hoover; sisters, Florence Stubblefield, Ann Tickle and Peggy Litz.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for Amedisys Hospice and nurse Kalynn for all their exceptional care and kindness.
The family will receive friends from 2-3pm, Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home; funeral services will follow with Rev. Micah Davis officiating. Military honors and interment will be in Historic Bethesda Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
