Robert Donald "Don" Cunningham

Robert Donald (Don) Cunningham, best known as Pappy and coach, passed into the Heavenlies on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1940 to the late William Blake Cunningham and Edith Grace Paxton Cunningham.

Don/Pappy is survived by his children; Robert Bryan (Chuck) Cunningham, Donna Ann Carlyle and husband Greg, Paul Scott Cunningham and wife Mary and RichardTodd Cunningham. Brother, Billy Jack Cunningham and wife Pat, and sisters, the late Iris McDaniel, Pat Standifer, the late Eva Kay Stump, Betty Sue Trent and Brenda Ann Cunningham. Grandchildren includes, Eric Carlyle, Alex Cunningham, Nathan Cunningham, Kelsey Cunningham, Ty Cunningham, Will Cunningham, Tommy Cunningham, Josh Cunningham and River Cunningham. Pappy enjoyed life the most when he was watching his grandchildren play golf, baseball, basketball, dance, football and run track.

Don was retired from the Lakeway Publishers after 40 plus years where he served as Circulation Director and Vice President of Circulation for Lakeway Publishers. Over the span of many years he served as SCMA president/Vice President, TPA chairman, served on the Hamblen County Commission, and chaired several non- profit organizations.

Don coached many Little League and Senior League baseball teams where he touched the lives of so many young men and their families!! He was one of the first members of the Morristown Parks and Recreation Hall of Fame. He was a permanent fixture of Morristown Golf and Country Club (Oscars) where he enjoyed his retirement. A special thank you to all his golfing friends who traveled this thing called life with him.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask for donations to made to The Boys & Girls Club of Morristown or to The Daily Bread in Morristown.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, August 23, 2019 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Carlyle officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 prior to the service.
