Ruth Longworth Sulfridge (90), born September 6, 1928, was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2019. Ruth lived an amazing life loving God and always putting her family and friends needs before her own. She was an avid gardener, loved sewing, and cooking, especially her world-famous fried apple pies.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James Rhea Sulfridge, son Ricky Lynn Sulfridge, her parents Benton and Eva Longworth and daughter in law Betty Sulfridge. She is survived by children: Johnny Sulfridge (Margaret) and Ben Sulfridge of Michigan, Paul Sulfridge (Margaret), Jack Sulfridge (Celeste) and Tracey Singleton of Tennessee and Robin Sulfridge of North Carolina. She was a beloved Mammaw to 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on July 8, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Allen’s Funeral Home, 200 Jaybird Road, Morristown, Tennessee (East Chapel). Pastor William Gardner will immediately officiate a memorial service beginning at 7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on July 9, 2019 at 9:00 am and internment will follow in the family plot at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Ruth “Mammaw” Sulfridge will be greatly missed but will not be forgotten.
