Walter E. Plankenhorn

Walter E. Plankenhorn, 76, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System.   He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcella Plankenhorn; father, Andrew Plankenhorn; and sister, Daisy. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Haun Plankenhorn of Morristown; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Kerri of Madison, AL; grandson, Adam Stults and wife Erin of Huntsville, AL; two great-grandchildren; brother, Andrew of Atlanta, GA; five nieces; good friends, Sandford Harville, Alan Sharp, Travis Earls and Carlos Wolfe; golfing buddies, Perry Pearson, Larry Hurst, Buddy Saulsbury, Raymond Williams and Glen Beck.

He was retired from over 25 years of service with Hamblen County Schools, where he served as the first Asst. Principal at East Ridge Middle School and was Principal at Fairview-Marguerite Elementary School.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Tusculum College and was among the first graduating class from Temple University’s (Philadelphia, PA) Master of Middle School Administration Program.

Receiving of friends will be from 1:00 – 3:00 pm Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 in the Mausoleum at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
