Ada Woods, age 82, passed away on January 30, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on May 24, 1943. Ada was a hardworking, giving, and loving woman who devoted her life to her family and faith. She attended Whitesburg High School and later worked at General Electric, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring. Ada was a faithful member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, where she found great comfort in her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ronnie; and her beloved husband, James Woods.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Pam (Marty) Cantwell, Chris (Kim) Woods, and Karla (Andy) Taylor; grandchildren of whom she was very proud of, Blake (Chrissy) Cantwell, Brad (Logan) Cantwell, Lashae (Adam) Lamb, Brittany (Danny) Ivy, and Hunter (Madison) Furches; blessings of great-grandchildren, Elijah, Noah, Dresden, Ramsey, Hudson, Cooper, Otter, and Poppy; brothers, Sonny (Janet) Lawson and George (Christy) Lawson; sisters, Barbara (Jim) Murphy and Sue Marrisett; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Ada’s neighbors and dear friends, Gary and Shelly Bailey and Mike and Mary Lou Hayes, for their kindness and support.
Friends may visit with the family from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. The funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Shane Russell officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
