Alfred P. McDaniel

Alfred P. McDaniel, “Mac Sr.” of Xenia and formerly of Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 23, 2025 just days before his 103 birthday. He was born October 31, 1922 in Rock Castle County, Kentucky, the son of Arthur and Ellen (Hellard) McDaniel. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Arnetta (Barrett) McDaniel in 2020; daughter-in-law: Linda Ramey McDaniel; and 2 step sons: Louis Barton (LB) and Douglas Barrett.

He is survived by his children: Rebecca Minton of Xenia; Alfred (Carolyn) McDaniel, Jr. “Mac Jr.” and Gary McDaniel (friend: Lesli Creech) of Jamestown; step-daughter: Edna Shephard of Arizona; 17 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren. 

Mac was a dairy farmer on Valley Road until 1958, before moving to Tennessee in 1968 to work for Morristown Power and Water System, retiring in 1987.  He served in the US Army during WWII. He is a member of Interprise Baptist Church in Morristown, TN and following his wife’s passing in 2020 he moved back to Xenia and currently attends New Beginnings Baptist Church.

A gathering for friends and family will be held 5-6:30 PM Wednesday, October 29th at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with a time of reflection at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. He will be buried 2 PM Friday, October 31st in Hamblen Memory Gardens, Morristown, TN.
