Alice Jane (Creech) Moody

Alice Jane Creech-Moody, age 85, of Rutledge passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at her home in the Bowen community of Grainger County.

She was born March 31, 1940, to Hazel Rucker-Creech and Benjamin A. Creech, Jr. She was a member of the Rutledge United Methodist Church. Alice taught in the Knoxville City School System from 1964 to 1968 at Alice Bell Elementary, she was assistant principal at Rutledge High School from 1969 to 1970 and was school librarian at Bean Station Elementary for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1998. Her passions were her family, especially her beloved husband, James Rick Moody, their five-generation family farm, and researching her family’s genealogy. 

Alice is preceded in death by her husband, James Rickard (Rick) Moody; father and mother, Benjamin A. Creech, Jr. and Hazel Rucker-Creech; maternal grandparents, James Oscar Rucker and Jessie E. McDaniel-Rucker; and fraternal grandparents, Benjamin A. Creech, Sr. and Nannie S. McCarver-Creech.

She is survived by several cousins and very special friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rutledge United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund: 796 Rutledge Pike, Rutledge, TN 37861.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Rutledge United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Mark Edwards officiating.
