Pastor Allen Douglas Black, 75, of Morristown died on Monday, July 15, 2024. He went on to see the place he has preached his heart out for …Heaven and met the one he so desperately tried to help others know … Jesus. He was the pastor for twenty-nine and a half years at Gospel Way Independent Baptist Church in Greeneville and served in the ministry for fifty years.
Allen enjoyed fishing, hunting, softball, and playing his guitar. He never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Edith (Stines) Black; three brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Cheryl (Sherry) Black; daughters, Caroline (Robert) Dawson and Kimberly Troup; grandchildren, Brianna Sizemore, Amber (Kory) Moore, Adalyn Troup, and Reiden Troup; great-grandson, Axle Black Moore; sister, Edith (Chay) Rosenacker; many extended family members and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Brother Adam Crabtree officiating, and Brother Jimmy Jennings providing the eulogy. Interment will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 1 PM, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
