Allen Trent, 85, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Johnson City. He was born September 30, 1938, in Hancock County and moved to Morristown in 1958. Allen worked at American Enka, was a route salesman for Taylor Jobbing Company, and retired after 15 years as manager of Hamblen County Boat Dock. He served two years active duty with the United States Army in Fort Hood, Texas. He attended First Baptist Church of Whitesburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rector and Mary Trent of Sneedville; sister, Lola (Andrew) Wilder; brothers, Lincoln Trent and C.J. Trent; and brother-in-law, Woodrow Johnson.
Allen is survived by his wife, Norma Turnmire Trent; son, Brian Scott (Jenniffer) Trent; sister, Ina Johnson; grandchildren, Taylor (Rachel) Trent, Cassie Trent, and Colby Trent; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Hudson, and Nora Trent; sisters-in-law, Rosa and Kathy Trent, Faye Lloyd, and Nancy Tucker.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Thursday, February 22, 2024, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 PM with Rev. Brian Wilson officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 23rd, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the “Youth Group” at First Baptist Church in Whitesburg.
