Anne Brittain Sparkman, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2026, in Morristown, Tennessee.
Born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Anne was raised in East Tennessee, where she developed the strong values and warmth that would define her life. In 1980, she moved to Texas, where she built a home and career, remaining there for more than three decades before returning to Tennessee in 2016.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Ronald Sparkman, who passed away in 2015. Their marriage was marked by deep devotion and partnership. She was also preceded in death by her parents and longtime Morristown residents Bill and Gerry Brittain.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Kelly Cantrell; and her cherished granddaughters, Caroline and Claire, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her loving sister, Kay (and husband Garry) Kanipe; brother Bill (and wife Gale) Brittain and brother Ted Brittain; along with numerous nieces, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Anne was a longtime elementary school teacher who dedicated herself to shaping young lives with patience and care. She had a deep love for sewing and quilting, often sharing her talents by teaching quilting classes to others. A proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, she carried on her family’s love of Volunteers football and basketball throughout her life.
Anne will be remembered for her enduring love of family, her strength, and the kindness she extended to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and devotion to those she loved.
A family graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on March 29 at Emma Jarnagan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Anne’s love for animals with a donation to the Hamblen County Humane Society.
