Audrey Wilds Weeks

Audrey Wilds Weeks, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in Morristown.  

She was born on December 23, 1921 to William Judson Wilds and Audrey Blanche Brooks at the home of her grandfather, John Royal Brooks, on the French Broad River in Del Rio, Tennessee.

Audrey attended a 2 room school in Manning Chapel, graduated from Parrottsville High School, and earned her bachelors degree from Asheville Normal Teachers College.  She taught first grade at Sherwood and Lincoln Heights Elementary.  She retired with more than 40 years of teaching children to read.

Audrey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  She especially enjoyed planning trips and activities for the senior citizen group.  

She was the 4th of 6 children: Bernard Wilds, Fayne Wilds, Gladys Park, Doris Parks, and Hazel Walker, all who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Jim Weeks.

Audrey is survived by her 2 daughters, Jackie Rice (John), and Debbie Cruey (Steve); 2 grandchildren, Katie Kanipe-Noe and Michael James Hulick; great-granddaughter, Audrey Emmaline Noe, and several nieces and nephews.

Audrey loved life, her church, and her family.  When celebrating her 100th birthday, she said about her 100 years, “We’ve had a pretty good time!”

Services for Audrey will be held at 3:00pm, Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church on Enka Hwy. with Reverend Bobby Kitts officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Bethel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at 2:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Audrey Weeks to Bethel Baptist Church.
