Barbara Jean Paxton

Barbara Jean Paxton, 84, of Strawberry Plains, peacefully went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

Barbara was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years and a lifetime member of Morristown Crewettes.  She was of the Methodist faith.

She is preceded in death by her son, Timothy (Timmy) Peoples; parents, Victor and Eunice Stump; infant sister, Louise Stump; twin brother, Bobby Stump; brothers, Charles and Billy Stump.

She is survived by her husband, David Lynn Paxton; daughter, Jamie (Greg) Hensley; son, Paul (Donna) Peoples; stepdaughter, Jennifer Paxton (Rick Stephenson); granddaughters, Megan Peoples, and McKenzie Stephenson; brother, P. D. (Claudia) Stump; and several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Smoky Mtn. Hospice of Knoxville; nurses, BB and Mariah, all the neighbors on Charlie Hodges Road, and sitters Summer Smith and Sonia Parrott. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Morristown Crewettes.

Graveside services are planned for Monday, March 10, 2025, at 2 PM, in Hamblen Memory Gardens, with Chaplain Jim Yeary officiating.
