Barbara "Joan" (Carroll) Cross

Barbara “Joan” (Carroll) Cross, 79, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2026, at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems surrounded by family.  She was a faithful member of Spruce Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Mooresburg and retired from Howmet Aerospace after many years of service.  She enjoyed attending church, making conversations with friends and family and she especially loved her dog, Skipper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shields “Johnny” Cross; parents, Clay and Eliza Carroll; sisters, Juanita “Cricket” Crawford; Betty Jo Mills; brother, Randy Carroll; and her furry companion, Skipper.

She is survived by her son, Rodney Webb; step daughter, Rhonda Bryant; step sons, John Cross and Mike Cross; grandchildren, Travis Webb, Aaron Moore, Preston Bryant, Bryer Cross, and Tyler Cross; great grandchildren, Bentley Smith, Madden Webb, Paxton Moore, Camden Bryant; and siblings, Wade (Carolyn) Carroll, Mavis Heck, Houston (Phyllis) Carroll, and Greg (Sheila) Carroll.

The family would especially like to thank the nurses and staff of Morristown Hamblen Hospital for their care and support.  

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Sunday, January 18, 2026, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 PM, with reverends Brandon Brewer and Odell Davidson officiating.  Graveside services and interment will be held 11 AM, Monday, January 19, 2026, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
