Betty Davis Obituary

Betty Leonora Murphy Davis, born November 6, 1929, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 after a lengthy illness.  She was a loving and helpful wife of her husband, Reverend Charles W. Davis during his years of service in the ministry of Holston Methodist Conference.  She retired from the Holston Home for Children after 16 years of service.  Betty belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron and was organist for fifteen years.  She was a faithful member of Noe’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Reverend Charles W. Davis; son, Edward Davis; parents, George and Nettie Robertson Murphy; granddaughter-in-law, Lois Davis.  

Survivors include her son, James (Shirlene) Davis; grandchildren, Eric (Tina) Davis and Sabrina (Joey) Coffey; eight great-grandchildren; Brittany, Hunter, Savannah, and Erica Davis; Makenzie (Isaac) Walker; Cody Coffey and Travis (Alexis) Barner, Peyton Barner; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Walker; brother, G. W. (Miyako) Murphy. 

Private graveside services are planned in Hamblen Memory Gardens.  Mrs. Davis will lie in state Saturday, May 2, 2020 from 11:00am - 5:00 pm in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home.
