Beulah Fowler Purgason, age 100, of Westlake, Ohio, passed away December 25, 2025, at her home. She was born in Hamblen County on December 20, 1925, and was a daughter of the late Isaac and Ethel Fowler. She worked on the Manhattan project at Oak Ridge during WWII and later at McKee Co. during the 1950s.
Survivors include one son: Robert Purgason; one daughter-in-law: Lynne Purgason; three grandchildren: Scott, Brett, and Kelly Purgason; one sister: Margaret Gardner of Morristown; one brother: Louis Fowler of Newport; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years: Cleve Purgason in 2010; four sisters: Juanita Stroud, Mae Knight, Jewel Harbin, and Johnnie Douthat; and three brothers: Alonzo Fowler and two infants.
The family will receive friends and family from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Westlake, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at Noon, Friday, January 2, 2026, in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery of Mohawk, TN.
