Billie “Bernice” Graves, 85, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 2, 2020. Bernice took pleasure in caring for her family. She was our guidance counselor, our encourager, accountant, health care provider, loved gardening, an amazing cook and a gracious hostess in her home. She taught us to honor God and to love unconditionally. Proverbs 31: 28 “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” She was a member of Kentucky Park Church in Monroe, Michigan.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edna Stockard; sisters, Patsy Black, Joann Bomia, Shirley Laney; son-in-law, Wayne Blevins and daughter-in-law, Pennie Graves.
Survivors include her loving husband of 69 years, Ernest Graves; children, Pamela Blevins; Marquita (Michael) Long; Ernie Graves; Tammie (Greg) Jennings; grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Byrd; Brandy (Quake) McCorvey; great-grandchildren, Chase McKnight; Chelsi Sorensen; brother, Bill Stockard; sister, Janice Hill; special friends, Louise Neikirk and Tina Royal and family; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gupta and Michael Igbokwe; caregivers, Victoria Escobar Mendez and Elizabeth Duncan; Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System’s ER Staff; IMC Staff, Liz, Stephen, Brian, Amber, Laura, Amy and Pam for their exceptionally compassionate care given to our mother.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, March 5, 2020 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to the service at 7:00 with Reverend Dewayne “Kojak” Graves officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday, March 6, 2020 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
