Bobby Wayne Covington, age 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior at his home. He is the son of Rev. Edward “Buck” Covington and Mable Hannah Covington Shoemaker of Knoxville, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Edward “Buck” Covington and Mable Hannah Covington Shoemaker; stepfather, Elmer Jack Shoemaker; sister, June Hensley; and brothers, Darrell Covington and Tommy Covington of Knoxville, TN.
Bobby is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Sabrina (McCoy) Covington; children, Tabitha (Herb) Taylor of Knoxville, TN, Bobby Wayne (Shay) Covington II of Morristown, TN; Brian Covington of Morristown, TN, Matthew (Ashley) Covington of Morristown, TN, Christopher Covington of Morristown, TN, Justin Covington (Michelle) of Morristown, TN, and Laura Covington of Morristown, TN; brothers, Ed (Pat) Covington and Mark (Melissa) Covington of Knoxville, TN; sister, Angie (Anthony) Haun; step sisters, Kay Brown of Knoxville, TN and Marie (Denver) Russell of Knoxville, TN; stepbrother, Junior Shoemaker of Knoxville, TN; several cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many special nieces and nephews.
He was an avid University of Tennessee football fan. One of Bobby’s proudest moments was becoming a deacon of New Resurrection House of Worship on January 29, 2023. His faith was a corner stone of his life and a source of inspiration to those around him. Bobby will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and faith that guided him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 5 -7 PM Friday, January 31, 2025, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Mark Covington officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 1, 2025, in Pollard Cemetery in Kodak, with Rev. Josh Hensley officiating.
