Calvin “Gene” Lamons, age 75, of Bulls Gap went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2021. He was a 51year member of Gutheries Gap Primitive Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran in the Vietnam War, and proudly served his country for several years in the Tennessee National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents Lonzo and Pauline Henson Lamons; son Toby Lamons; daughters, Melissa Bradley and Vickie Thacker; brothers, Bill, James and Charles; sisters, Louise and Betty Lou.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Etta Lamons; children, Alfred and Diane Thacker, Star and Steve Eslinger, Phyllis and Jesse Abbott, and Teresa Morrisett; grandchildren, Karina, Josh and Cheyenne Thacker, Kasey Free, Emily Welborn, Olivia Keith, Kevin Reaves, Clarissa Harris, Samatha Tweed, Johnny Bradley, Hunter and Jordy Lamons; several great-grandchildren; sister, Sue (Tank) Crocker; and several special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, January 22, 2021in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm with Reverends Larry Miller and Donnie Myers officiating with music provided by the Gloryland Trio. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 23, 2021 in McCullough-Tieke Cemetery in Bulls Gap.
All those in attending services are asked to wear facial coverings and observe social distancing.
