Clark Quillen, 83, passed away on June 25, 2025, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital.
He was born in Greene County, Tennessee, and grew up in Whitesburg. A proud graduate of Whitesburg High School, Clark went on to earn both a B.S. and M.A. degree from East Tennessee State University. He later taught English at ETSU and Walters State Community College, where he inspired and mentored countless students.
Clark was the founder and General Manager of WJDT 106.5 FM and Q100.7 FM. His broadcasting career began at Tennessee Military Institute, and his lifelong passion for communication helped shape local radio in East Tennessee. His voice, leadership, and dedication left a lasting impression on the airwaves and in the community.
A man of deep faith, Clark served for many years as Superintendent and Bible School teacher at Whitesburg Presbyterian Church, later known as Barton Springs Presbyterian Church. He was also an active and longtime member of Rotary International, exemplifying the organization's motto of “Service Above Self” throughout his life.
Clark and Beverly Trent of Morristown were married on September 2, 1963. In addition to his beloved wife of over 60 years, he is survived by three sons: John of Knoxville, David (Angela) Quillen of Morristown, and Todd Quillen of Morristown; sister-in-law Shelby Trent; nephew Michael Livesay; and niece Misty Lawson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Catherine Clark Quillen of Whitesburg, and his sister, Sally Livesay of Morristown.
Clark had a deep passion for antique cars, model trains, and travel—having explored more than 20 countries and all 50 U.S. states. He loved his community and found joy in sharing stories, laughter, and knowledge with all who knew him.
