Clifford Shepard Obituary

Clifford George Shepard, 84, of Morristown, passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father with family by his side on the evening of Saturday, April 27th, 2024, in his home after bravely battling cancer.  He was born April 17th, 1940, in Hamblen County where he spent all of his life. Clifford accepted his Lord and Savior at the age of thirteen during a tent revival with his mother and father.

Clifford retired from BASF after 32 years. A proud Navy veteran, Clifford's six-year service to his Country was only surpassed by his devotion to family and friends. He loved to attend antique car shows with his friends and family for many years throughout the county and beyond. His kind nature and unwavering courage touched the lives of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, A. Mack and Mabel Brady Shepard; brother, Hankie Shepard; sister, Sally Shepard Miller; brother-in-law, Jimmy Miller, and sister-in-law, Betty Jo Shepard.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Sue Shepard, with whom he would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on May 24th; his daughter, Sonja Shepard Wiseman, brother, Melvin Shepard; grandchildren, McKenze (Adam) Schlosser and Robert “Max” Wiseman; great-grandchild Colson Schlosser; former son-in-law, Dr. R. Michael Wiseman; sister-in-law, Marsha Collins; niece, Courtney Helton; great nephews and niece, Jon Helton, Zach Helton, and Kristen (Matt) Webb; special cousins, Jody Blizzard and Eddie McKinney, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Clifford chose his pall bearers before his death to include some of his greatest friends: Buddy Hopson, Bobby Dennis, David Long, Wayne Musick, Richard Webb, Scotty Shepard, and John Shelton.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, at 2PM at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Webb officiating. Military graveside services will immediately follow at Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6PM-9PM on Wednesday, May 1st at Allen Funeral Home.

While we will no longer see Clifford riding through town in his black 47’ Chevy Coupe, his memory lives on through his family and friends. He was a man larger than life known as a baby whisperer, Mr. Fix-It, and someone who would always be there for you. He will be dearly missed. A special thanks to Amedisys Hospice kindly caring for him in his final days.
