Cloda (Shockley) Coffey, age 92, of Morristown, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 9, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 27, 1932, in Claiborne County, TN, as the sixth child of Tilmon and Bessie Shockley. Cloda was saved and baptized at an early age at Howerton’s Baptist Church and later moved her letter to Morningside Baptist Church in Morristown, TN, where she remained a faithful member until her death. Cloda was a Sunday School teacher, active choir member, and VBS worker for many years.
She was a God-fearing lady whose strong Christian faith impacted all those who knew her. She had a gentle spirit and loving heart for her family, friends, and animals. Cloda was an avid sports fan. She had a special love for “her” Tennessee Vols.
Cloda was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Corbett Coffey; her parents, Tilmon and Bessie (Bull) Shockley; brothers, Dillon, Dayton, Doyle, and J.B. Shockley; sisters, Lovada Harville and Barbara Burke.
Cloda is survived by her daughters, Karen (Coffey) Cobb and Gina Coffey (Tracy Short); granddaughters, Jessica (Austin) Bullington and Jennifer (Otis) Ballard; great-grandchildren, Drew, Jace, Makinli, Carson, and Mia; special cat, Miss Kitty, and a host of other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 5-7 pm, at Morningside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm, with Dr. Kenny Boling officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 1 pm in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
