In Loving Memory of Coy Harmon Johnson
August 22, 1937 – June 20, 2025
Coy Harmon Johnson, 87, of Morristown, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, with his loving wife of 63 years, by his side.
Born on August 22, 1937, in Hancock County, Coy lived a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. At the age of 16, he gave his heart to the Lord at Compromise Missionary Baptist Church and walked faithfully with God every day since.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Timothy Johnson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Jean; his children, Audrea Johnson Herrera (Jose Herrera) and Coy H. Johnson Jr. (Lorrie Johnson); and his grandchildren, Cainnon Gregg (Kiki Gregg), Megan McCoy (Colton McCoy), Madison Johnson, and Karina Herrera. His great-grandchildren include Timberlake, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah. He is also survived by special friends that he dearly loved and thought of as family, Troy and Melissa Gibson.
For 35 years, Coy joyfully sang in the Good Shepherd Quartet, spreading the gospel through music at churches, revivals, and community gatherings. His voice was a blessing to many, and his commitment to ministry through music was unwavering.
Coy’s life was a shining example of faith, humility, and love. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of all who knew him.
A masterful and dedicated carpenter for 56 years, Coy built not only homes and buildings, but a reputation for honesty, skill, and integrity that left a mark on everyone he worked with. He truly loved his craft and used it to serve others his entire life.
A celebration of life will be held at Allen Funeral Home in Morristown, Tennessee on Friday, June 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM prior to the funeral service at 7:00 with Reverend Lonnie Dalton officiating. Burial will be Saturday, June 28, at 11:00 AM at Davis Cemetery in Kylesford, Tennessee.
