David Sherman Phillips, 88, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 24, 2020 at his home in Morristown with his family by his side. He served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze and Silver star. After the service, he was trained as a boilermaker and retired from TVA as a Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, VFW and Kerbella Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee David and Ethel Phillips; twin brother, John Phillips, and a sister Christine Calfee.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Clara Mae Wolfe Phillips; daughter, Cheryl (Dan) Sharp; sons, Terry (Amanda) Phillips and Russell Phillips; grandchildren, Ashley Paige (Dano) Hillis; Heather (Jonathan) Woodard; Shelby Phillips; Daylon Phillips; great-grandchildren, Connor, Cohen, Casen, Ryan and Sawyer as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are planned for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Bethesda Cemetery.
