David L. Shockley, 70, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 28, 2025, at his home in Morristown, after a battle with ALS. He was a long-time member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He retired from Hamblen County Board of Education after 44 years of service. David loved to travel with his family, especially on the backroads, and loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Howard Shockley and brother, Mark Shockley.
David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandy K. Shockley; children, Joshua (Rhonda) Shockley and Adam (Andrea) Shockley; grandchildren, Keaton, Loryn, Easton, and Harper Shockley; sister, Connie Beck; brothers, Bill (Ginger) Shockley and Tim (Sandra) Shockley; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jennifer Jones and her nurses and staff at Healthstar Physicians of Morristown, the ALS Clinic of Elizabethton, and Amedisys Hospice of Morristown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in David’s name can be made to the ALS Association.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Gary Satterfield and Rev. Roger Porter officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
