Della Scott, 89, of Morristown, TN, went to be with the Lord, Monday, October 19th, surrounded by family in Spanish Fort, AL. Della was born November 25, 1930 in Varney, WV. She was the daughter of the late Allen D. and Grace Adkins. She was an administrative assistant at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky for over 30 years. Prior to that, she served as the Postmistress of Pie, WV.
Della enjoyed 58 years of marriage to the love of her life, her late husband Stearl “Scottie” Scott and enjoyed traveling all fifty states and many other parts of the world with him. She was crowned pageant queen of a local sorority pageant in South Williamson, KY. She was an expert gardener, canner, and art painter. Della was also known as the perfect hostess by her family and friends, preparing many a meal for family and friends.
She was of upmost class and dignity. She will be remembered for her gentle kindness, and impact on everyone she encountered with her warm smile and welcoming demeanor.
Della was preceded in death by her husband, Stearl “Scottie” Scott, brother’s Strauther, Willard, Dennis, and Robert Adkins; as well as her beloved sisters Estaline Adkins, Lucille Lepley, and Ann Perry.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Paul Perry of Varney, WV; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Adkins of Lawrenceville, GA and Dorothy Adkins of Danville, WV; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank Suncrest Home Health, Life Care Centers of America, Regency Retirement Village, and Kindred Hospice (Spanish Fort, AL) for their loving and tender care.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Morristown Food Bank, 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd., Morristown, TN., as Della always ensured that everyone had enough to eat.
Final arrangements will be provided by Allen Funeral Home, Morristown TN. There will be a gravesite ceremony at 3pm, on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Hamblen Memory Gardens, Morristown, TN.
