Delores Imogene Cole, 77, stepped as gracefully as she had lived into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Friends of Hospice Serenity House, in Morristown. She was born Delores Imogene Beets on September 29, 1946, to Charles Willis and Evelyn Inman Beets. She was a sweet and kind child with soft blonde curls who loved playing outside and going to the beach. Delores was a 1964 graduate of Morristown High School. It was during her high school years, she met her husband, Mack Cole, whom she married sixty years ago, in a ceremony at Calvary Baptist Church in June of 1964, amongst the sunshine and the shasta daisies she loved.
During those early years, she loved driving Mack's black Impala to Knoxville shopping, even maneuvering her way home amidst a sudden Christmas Eve snowstorm that stranded most of Morristown that year.
Delores gave birth to her firstborn son, Charles, during the construction of her house in Lakemore, where she became an active member of the Ladies of Lakemore. She and Mack moved into their new home while Charles was still in his walker. Not too many years later, she welcomed her youngest son, Christopher. She enjoyed her children and the grandchildren they gave her: Jackson, Jase, Austin, Riley, Chase and Chloe. She lived to spend as much time as possible with them and attended as many of their awards, school functions, and sports games as she possibly could.
Delores attended Walter's State and soon found her business niche in the real estate market where she spent the rest of her working life dedicated to her clients first through Coldwell Banker, then ReMax Real Estate of Tennessee from where she retired in 2019. She attended community and Chamber functions as a respected part of the Morristown business community with many friends and awards to show for it.
One of the highlights of her life was her joy of singings, especially Christian gospel and bluegrass music. She and Mack attended as many concerts as possible, often driving great distances from their home for concerts and church gatherings.
She was an avid cook and never let anyone leave her home unfed, often bringing dishes to others, less fortunate, confined, or ill, and community events she attended regularly.
Delores was a faithful member of Morristown First Baptist Church, where she and Mack enjoyed taking many trips with the Joy Group, often riding along with her friends as Mack drove the bus. Traveling was in her blood as much as music, and she documented her trips with photos and memory books and the many lifelong friendships she made.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Willis and Evelyn Inman Beets; and sister, Alice Beets Crosby.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Mack Cole; sons, Charles and Christopher (Janine) Cole; cherished grandchildren, Jackson Cole, Jase Cole, Austin Cole, Riley Cole, Chase Cole, Chloe Cole, Brayden Bolden, and Ty Cooper; aunt, Novella Laster; as well as many loved cousins and nephews.
Her life will be honored with a Celebration of Life service at First Baptist Church Morristown, 3 PM on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with Dr. Dean Haun and Rev. Danny Georges officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-3 PM prior to the service. Interment will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in Heath Chapel Cemetery, Bean Station, TN.
