Donald (Don) Turley, 85, of Morristown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 4, 2021 surrounded by his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Sr. and Grace Wagner Turley; brothers, Jimmy (Evelyn) Turley, Bill (Jean) Turley, and Charles (Bobbie) Turley; sisters Doris (Ray) Helton, Polly (Ike) Wilson, Celia Turley and infant sister, Lois Turley.
Don was retired from American Enka/BASF after 33 1/2 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for 68 years and was a US Army Veteran; a member of Morristown Masonic Lodge #231, recently receiving his certificate for 60 years as a Mason. Over the years, he has held several offices including Worshipful Master and Chaplain and was also a member of the Kerbela Shriners and enjoyed the years that he drove children to and from the hospitals.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Patty Turley; children, Bobby (Pam) Turley, Susie (Terry) Norton, John (Tracey) Turley and Bart (Sherry) Turley; grandchildren, Allison (Jaron) McFall and their daughter Annabeth, Amanda Turley, Gena Norton and Jack Turley; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Veronica and Garrett and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their care during this time.
Mr. Turley will lie in repose from 1-6 pm Monday, March 8, 2021 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Military and Masonic services will be presented 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in Hamblen Memory Gardens followed by the committal service with Reverend Walter Wiekel officiating. For all persons in attendance, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
