Dorothy Lell Scissom Johnson
June 17, 1934 – February 12, 2021
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend left this world in the arms of Jesus on February 12, 2021. She is now rejoicing in heaven with her precious husband, George W. Johnson, and countless family and friends. Dorothy loved the Lord and held many teaching positions in various churches during her life. She was also a retired elementary teacher after having taught in Jefferson and Hamblen Counties for 30 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Johnson; father, Claude Thomas Scissom; mother, Pearl Ellen Meeks Burnett; brother, James N. (Faye) Scissom; sister, Shirley B. (David) Gasaway.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Lynn (Faye) Johnson; daughter, Katherine Ellen Johnson (Bob) Hodge; granddaughters, Angela Lynn Johnson (Kerry) Bloodworth, Christy Johnson, Robin Johnson (Dan) Coher; brothers, Tom (Martha) Scissom, John (Linda) Burnett; sisters, Elsie (Jim) Fultz, Wanda (Jack) Bible, Anna (Bobbie) Breneman; great-grandson, Dylan Coher and many nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service was held on February 15, 2021. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rocky Valley Baptist Church building fund or Morningside Baptist Church building fund.
Allen Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
