May 29, 2026, God reached down and took the hand of a devout Christian, Douglas “Doug” Jones. He loved the Lord and shared his faith with everyone he met. He would always ask a stranger if they attended church and could usually be found reading his bible. He retired from Mahle after 37 years of service and never slowed down afterwards. Doug enjoyed the outdoors especially watching the clouds roll by and the blue sky. He will be missed by many.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lyda Jones; and sisters, Nora Jones and Betty Ann Jones.
He is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Pansy “P.J.”; daughter, who was the highlight of his life, Katie Alexis; sister, Charlotte (Craig) Carey; niece, Sherri Hurst; great nephews, Nick and Ethan Hurst; and great-great niece, Alexandria Hurst. He was also gramps to his “fur babies” Jackson and Luna.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7PM, with Reverend Chase Osborne officiating. Graveside services will be held 11AM, Wednesday, June 3, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
