Edna Edith (Bowlin) Shockley, 88, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 29, 2024. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Whitesburg until her health declined. Edna was well known for her cooking and baking talents, especially her home-made candy. She also enjoyed canning her own food. Many have said, “If you left her house hungry, it was your own fault.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulous Shockley; son, Duane Shockley; granddaughter Tara Shockley; grandson. Jason Shockley; parents, James and Della Bowlin; brothers, Coy Bowlin, Conley Carr, Lewis Bowlin, Merlin Bowlin, George Bowlin, and Clay Bowlin; and sisters, Bernice Barrington, Elsie Price, Annette Newman, and Daisy Alley.
Edna is survived by her sons, Doug (Renee) Shockley, Don (Karen) Shockley, and Dave (Amy) Shockley; daughter, Darlene Sopshier; grandchildren, Chris (Terri) Shockley, Andy (Sabrina) Shockley, Michael (Brittany) Pugh, Robbie (Tessa) Pugh, Donny (Anna) Shockley, Travis (Katie) Trent, Jessica (Tim) Dalton, Destiny (George) Sauceman, Derek (Ashley) Gibson, Amanda (Brad) Russell, Taylor (Kate) Shockley, Josh Shockley, Heather (Marco) Oliver; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Dodson and Shirley Morgan; a host of nieces and nephews; and countless church family and friends.
The Shockley family would especially like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Ridgeview Terrace in Rutledge, TN; Amedisys Home Health & Hospice in Morristown; and, Dr. Eric Delay’s private practice.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 PM, with Reverends Brian Wilson and Charlie Brewer officiating. Graveside services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, July 3rd, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
