Ernest Arnold Obituary

Ernest Lee Arnold (Ernie), 77, of Morristown, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, with his family by his side.  The family takes comfort in knowing he lived a full life and remained independent until the end when he succumbed to a brief illness.  Having played baseball and basketball during his youth, he took pride in watching his favorite team, the Atlanta Braves, play any chance he could.  He retired in 1998 from Coca Cola in Morristown after working for them for 31 years.  Prior to that he was in the Army Reserves having been stationed at Ft. Leonard-Wood, Missouri. He was also employed at Enka for a brief time.

He enjoyed fishing after retirement with whomever he could tag along with and took pride in “skunking” them on several occasions and taught many how to “hold their mouth right.”  He was an avid bowler and on Monday Night Industrial League at West End Lanes, “Covington Furniture,” held the lockdown on first place.  Now all the boys are together—Glenn Emert, Bud Smith, Bill Inman, and Curt Dalton.  There are so many others as well that were part of this team, and you are not forgotten.

Ernie is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn; Parents Noah Cornelius and Mary Francis Cobb Arnold; Brothers Lloyd and NC “Hoot” Arnold.

He is survived by his children Lisa Harvey and Tony (Amber) Arnold; Grandchildren Delaney, Addison, and Ansley Arnold; Nephews Scotty (Becky) Arnold and Family; Eddie (Janna) McKinney and Family.

Special Friends: Thomas the cat of 14 years, Nadine Russell, Guy Lambert, Donnie Standifer, Jake Trent, Tim Mitchell, Dale Goodman, Dennis “Lightnin” Daniel, Linda Shultz.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Saturday, September 4, 2021, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home.  Following the visitation, funeral services will be held at 7pm with Reverend Dannie Bell officiating.  Interment will be 1pm, Sunday, September 5, 2021 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
