Faye Lorraine Pierce Pratt January 14, 1932 – May 28, 2024
Devoted, loving mother and grandmother, Faye Pierce Pratt of Morristown, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the impressive age of 92.
Faye was well known by many for her sunny disposition and most certainly by her uncanny sense of humor and sharp wit. Always quick with a joke and never without an encouraging word, she will be greatly missed by her family, Gary Pratt (Susie Pratt) of Raleigh, Cherie Pratt Heringer (Tony Heringer) of Atlanta and her loving grandchildren, Michael Pratt, Emily Pratt, Travis Heringer and Abby Heringer.
Faye touched many lives through her dedication to volunteerism, community work and a wide social circle of dear friends. She was a member of The Ladies Reading Circle, serving as both Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary and on a of variety of committees from 1964 to 2023. She was also a very active member of First United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities, participating in ministries and even starting a group for newly divorced women. And as a member of the Walter State President’s Trust, Faye’s portrait still graces the halls of Walters State along with her fellow distinguished donors.
Faye was never at a loss for fun. She was active in many bridge clubs, played golf, gardened, played piano, traveled and enjoyed yoga. She was such an animal lover and kept vigil on her birds and any other critter that found its way into her line of sight.
Faye had a green thumb and could keep and nurture any kind of growing vegetation. She even had a knack for finding four leaf clovers! Her love of nature and animals, combined with an artistic bent, inspired her to become a talented painter at one time in her life, working primarily in watercolors with themes of nature and landscapes.
Growing up in Greeneville, TN, Faye’s parents, Ardelle and Melvin Pierce saw to a very proper upbringing with all the social graces of a socialite. She attended Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN, majoring in organ before moving to Ohio then Memphis, TN. Later in life she enjoyed traveling within the United States, the Bahamas, Hawaii and Europe.
Faye’s love of beauty reflected in her classic style of fashion and decorating in her home, which beyond her children and grandchildren, was her greatest joy. She didn’t need a degree to know how to pull together beautiful designs and outfits and she loved sharing her space with her friends and loved ones. She was an art collector and used bright cheerful colors in her décor and found great joy in shopping for new pieces to add to her collections.
Services for Faye Pratt will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 2 PM at First United Methodist Church in Morristown and a reception will be held the next day, Sunday, June 2 from noon until 2 PM at the Morristown Country Club. In her honor, we encourage those attending both events to wear touches of yellow, her favorite color.
