General Dewain Coffey

General D. “GD” Coffey, 73, of Whitesburg passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was saved at an early age at Chinquipin Missionary Baptist Church where he is still a member. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Lee & Bonnie Coffey, son Benson Coffey, brothers Roger, Foister & Howard Coffey. 

He is survived by his son’s Gary (Sabrina) Coffey and Todd Coffey, granddaughter Whitney Coffey, two sisters Bealy Doris Wolfe and Lois Greene; several nieces and nephews; good friend Sue Nabors, ex-wife Evette Coffey and faithful four-legged companion Precious.

The body will lie in state from 4PM-6PM, Thursday, August 26, 2021, in the West Chapel of Allen Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6PM-8PM in the West Chapel of Allen Funeral Home.  The body will also lie in state from 9AM- 10AM, Friday, August 27, 2021, in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home, and gravesides services will be held at 11AM in Hamblen Memory Gardens with Reverend Aaron Alder officiating.
