George Wallace DeBord, 86, of Morristown, TN passed from this life into eternal life on Friday, May 8, 2020 at the Heritage Center.
One of five children, George was born on January 19, 1934 to the late Reverend Ralph and Nola Shephard DeBord in Eidson, TN. He Graduated from Hancock High School in Sneedville, TN and served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. After his honorable discharge, George married his sweetheart, Dora Anne Smith, on October 19, 1958.
George was a Master Barber and owner of Lincoln Avenue Barbershop, until he semi-retired in 2005. He then returned to his profession, part-time, at Buffalo Trail Barber Shop, and retired in 2011.
George professed our Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He served as a deacon and a member at both Fairfield Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Morristown, TN. In 1974, he became a Master Mason, Morristown Lodge #231, F. & A.M.
He is survived by his devoted wife, of 61 years, Anne Smith DeBord; his sons Michael (Kathy) DeBord and Randy DeBord; grandsons, whom he absolutely adored, Rand and Dylan DeBord, and their mother Wanda DeBord; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Virgil and Bill, and sisters Joyce and Anna Ruth.
George’s body will lie in state from 9 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2020 in Hamblen Memory Gardens, with Reverend Larry Parrott officiating.
