Geraldine Ruby Shannon

Geraldine “Gerri” (Collins) Shannon, born May 22, 1940 (age 84), of Morristown, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Gerri loved attending church with her family and friends; in addition to cooking, farming, and caring for those she loved most.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Hubert Shannon; parents, Jim and Mary Collins; brothers, Kenny (Muriel) and Wayne Collins; as well as several friends.  

Gerri is survived by her daughter, Renee (Mark) Simmons; granddaughters, Courtney (Zackary) Williams and Madison Simmons; great grandchildren, Fenway and Neyland Williams; aunt, Christine Elkins; sister-in-law, Linda Cross; nieces, Regina (David) Countess, Nicky (Shannon) Pillion, and Penny (Rick) Tolliver; nephews, Shannon (Page) Collins, Chris (Regina) Jolly, and Jason Collins; great-nephew, Bryan (Julie) Countess; her loving family members, Amy, Taver, and Wendy Leedy, Ida Simmons, Kevin Reagan, Mikey Sigmon, Gail, Johnny, and Jona Manning; special friends including, Traci and Sammie Tallman, and Jayden Dyer; as well as special friend and caretaker, Flora Price. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to House of Jesus Christ Church and Fairfield Baptist Church for their generosity; the wonderful caretakers with Gentiva Hospice, including nurses Annette, Tabatha “Tabby”, Courtney, Brittany and Dreama; and Mark Simmons for taking care of and never leaving his mother-in-law's side. 

Receiving of friends will be held from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Fairfield Baptist Church, in Morristown, Tennessee. The funeral service will follow, with Pastor Scott Helton officiating. Both Gerri and Hubert were lifelong members of Fairfield Baptist Church.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at House of Jesus Christ Church, in Morristown, Tennessee with Pastor Scott officiating.
