Grace Carolyn Perkins

Grace Carolyn Perkins, 76, of Whitesburg, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at her home.  She was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family and was an inspiration to many.  She loved to create things, design gardens, landscape, and always kept herself occupied. While in living in Connecticut, she was a cake designer for a large bakery.  When she moved to Tennessee, from Connecticut, she brought over 200 plants and flowers with her, so she could preserve and pursue her passion for horticulture.   She enjoyed various crafts and crocheting and was always doing something out of the ordinary.  She was a great cook and homemaker.  She also loved to travel to various places in the United States, where she would learn new things and always brought home new ideas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Main and William Sheldon; and grandparents, Grace Taylor and Avery Main. 

Survivors include her husband, of 51 years, Ronald Perkins; daughter, Rhonda P. (Justin Allen) Danford; sister, Marilyn (Sherwood) Briggs; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank her caregivers from Holly’s Group, Annette, Terry, Gale, Missy, Penny, Amanda, and Joyce; and nurses and staff at UT Hospice, especially, Leann, Sarah, and Robin, for all of their care and support.  

The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2019 in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home.  Graveside services will follow the visitation in Catherine Nenney Baptist Church Cemetery, with reverend Dannie Bell officiating.  

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
