Gypsy Henry Fox, 93, passed away peacefully from this life on Sunday, May 26, 2024. She was born in 1930 to Dale and Ida Kincaid Henry on a farm near the Clinch River in Grainger County. Her family moved to Jefferson County in 1935 when the TVA acquired their land in creating Norris Dam. She cherished and loved to share her memories of growing up on a self-sufficient farm. She graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1948, where she enjoyed playing basketball. Gypsy then attended Carson Newman College. Gypsy was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked for the Hamblen County School System at Morristown Jr. High and Meadowview Middle School until her mid 70’s. She loved getting to know the students and staff at both schools. It was the delight of her day to run into former students who fondly remembered her! She loved to follow many sports, especially the Tennessee Vols!
Gypsy is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Ida Henry; siblings, Connie Altom, Myrtle Rankin, and Jack Henry; and husband of 56 years, Bill Fox.
She is loved and remembered by her family: John (Kim) Fox; Tracy, Matt (Lucy), River, John (Hailey), and Kathleen Horton; Mary Ellen Walker; Peggy (Duke) Groff; as well as many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Friends and family are welcomed for a graveside service at 6 P.M. on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Martha Sunderland Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. Jason McIntosh officiating.
Gypsy’s family would like to thank the staff at TerraBella for their kindness and care over the past two years.
If you were touched by Gypsy’s life, we ask you to honor her memory by taking a long walk, calling an old friend, or, better yet, by baking a skillet of her favorite cornbread!
